Job purpose
To provide clerical support to the department and patients. Provides adjunctive support to the dental staff, as needed and directed by the Dental Practice Manager and/or the Dental Director.
Duties and responsibilities
- Greet patients with a positive demeanor on the phone and in the office.
- Assist patients in completing paperwork.
- Enter all pertinent patient information into practice management software, as well as acquire the necessary signatures.
- Verify insurance eligibility and frequencies per patient or family
- Enter and review the breakdown of insurance benefits for patients.
- Ensure all precertification procedures are completed prior to patient’s visit.
- Maintain an organized workflow to complete insurance pre-authorizations.
- Confirm next day’s appointments.
- Obtain and disseminate mail to the intended recipient when delivered to the department.
- Make sure waiting room and reception area is neat and tidy.
- Compile end-of-day packet with deposit information, as requested by Dental Practice Manager.
- Ensure a positive experience by being helpful and by maintaining a positive demeanor.
- Walkout patients, verify procedures completed, collect payment, and submit insurance claims to the organizations billing department.
- Assist in providing clerical support to both the Dental Practice Manager and the Dental Director.
- Maintain confidentiality standards as outlined by organizational policies and procedures dictated by HIPPA.
- Will complete all required organizational trainings in a timely manner

Qualifications
- Experience with dental management software systems (Wisdom) preferred.
- Mathematical skills sufficient to balance budgets and to review end-of-day sheets.
- Experience utilizing Microsoft software systems such as Excel and Word, preferred.
- Bilingual Spanish and English Required.

Generally works in an office environment with no exposure to bloodborne pathogens.
