‘Culturally Responsive Health Care for LGBTQ Communities’
November 1, 2017 @ 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm
Culturally responsive health care — patient-centered care that considers social and cultural factors — is an important element in preventing and treating HIV, reducing health disparities within LGBTQ communities, and contributing to collective efforts to end the HIV/AIDS epidemic.
To help health care staff incorporate cultural responsiveness when working with LGBTQ communities, the Primary Care Development Corporation (PCDC) will offer a FREE three-part webinar health series, beginning on November 1.
The webinars are intended for health care staff from all fields (medicine, social work, navigation) that work to prevent, diagnose, or treat patients living with HIV/AIDS. The series will encourage participants to:
- Identify barriers to care
- Take action to create a more welcoming and safe health care center environment for LGBTQ patients
- Develop an understanding of LGBTQ patient-centered language
- Seek capacity-building services to enhance LGBTQ responsiveness.
