Cultural Competence in Preparedness Planning
April 24, 2019 @ 1:00 pm - 2:30 pm
Is your organization committed to building cultural competency? Do you need communication resources to help? Please join CDC’s Emergency Partners Information Connection (EPIC) for a webinar on April 24 at 1 PM ET.
When a disaster strikes a community, it affects people of various cultural backgrounds—sometimes disproportionately. Cultural competency can help public health communicators reduce this disparity. Please join CDC EPIC and CDC’s Office of Minority Health and Health Equity for this discussion. Julio Dicent Taillepierre, team leader for the Initiatives and Partnerships Team, will discuss why cultural competency matters during emergencies, the potential consequences of being culturally incompetent, and resources to help build your understanding.
Closed captioning will be available.
More information on this webinar, previous EPIC webinars, and information on CE units can be found on the EPIC Webinar website.
